American serial killer Richard Ramirez, dubbed the ‘Night Stalker’, terrorised Los Angeles in the 1980s, sneaking into the homes of people late at night and brutally murdering them. He was responsible for at least 13 murders, and was altogether convicted of over 40 crimes, including burglary and sexual assault, according to the Los Angeles Times. He was arrested in 1985 with the help of a group of angry east Los Angeles residents who caught him while attempting to steal a car.
