Unshackling Creativity: Navigating The Hall Of Mirrors In BSR Bill 2023

The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting last month released for consultation the Broadcasting Services (Regulation) Bill, 2023, as it seeks to replace the current Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995. The government's stated objective is to consolidate all existing policies and laws related to broadcasting under a single framework. I have written in these columns how the the bill lacks clarity, brackets OTT platforms with "broadcasting services", and has a lot of ambiguity
