Within 72 hours of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) inviting lateral-entry applications for 45 posts in the central government, the Modi administration on August 20 rolled back the decision, following pressure from allies and Opposition parties.  This is the fourth such U-turn by the Modi 3.0 dispensation within 100 days of assuming office, clearly signalling winds of change on account of the setback suffered by the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.  For comparison,
