Opinion: Government Should Avoid Shoving Theaterisation Down Armed Forces' Throat

The Ministry of Defence has announced that 2025 will be marked as ‘Year of Reforms’ for the Indian Armed Forces with the main objective being rolling out the long-pending policy of creating theatre commands to enhance jointness and integration within the Indian military. This is not the first time the Narendra Modi government has taken such a stance and every time the Defence Ministry wanted to roll out the policy coercively, it has faced backlash from the forces.
