Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh: Even if Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) suffered a major setback in the Lok Sabha elections by failing to secure an outright majority, many were not surprised. Anyone who had their ears and eyes on the ground knew the writing was on the wall. But what did, in fact, come as a huge shock and surprise was the emergence of Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) chief Abdul Rashid Sheikh, popularly known as ‘Engineer’ Rashid, who swept to victory
