The recent retirement of the last two squadrons of the aging Mig-21 supersonic fighters has reignited concerns within strategic establishment on fast dwindling fighter fleet of IAF. With the Indian Air Force now at a critical low of 29 squadrons, a parliamentary committee's long-standing recommendation for a minimum of 42 squadrons to effectively counter a potential Sino-Pak air threat has gained renewed urgency.
