Seoul [South Korea], April 29 (ANI): South Korea and the United States have agreed to closely consult each other regarding the upcoming US-North Korea summit and discuss the denuclearisation of North Korea, as told by South Korean Foreign Ministry on Sunday.
South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-hwa had his first conversation with United States Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Saturday, in which they reaffirmed their commitment towards complete denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula.
The two sides called for a close diplomatic consultation to ensure a successful US-North Korea summit scheduled for May.
They also agreed on scheduling the summit as early as posssible.
Further commenting upon the recently-concluded inter-Korean summit Pompeo said he would closely work with the South to make real progress in solving the North Korean nuclear issues, as reported by the Yonhap News Agency.
North-South Korea conducted a bilateral summit on Friday. They formally signed a bilateral peace treaty ending the six-decades-old war between the two countries. (ANI)
