Ghani sacks seven officials over attack on military academy

Kabul [Afghanistan], Feb 6 (ANI): Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani on Tuesday sacked seven security personnel, including two generals for their negligence over the attack on the Marshal Fahim Military University on January 29 that killed 10 people.

Ghani's presidential spokesperson Shahussain Murtazwi confirmed the development, according to Tolo news.

Also, the Office of the President of Afghanistan ARG wrote on Twitter, "Team findings reveal that seven high ranking officers including two generals committed professional negligence. All seven are sacked and referred for further investigations. The process of REWARD and PUNISHMENT to continue!"

At least one soldier was killed and 10 others were wounded after a group of attackers stormed the Marshal Fahim Military University in Kabul.

Two suicide bombers had detonated their explosives at the gate of the military academy, while two other attackers were killed in a clash with security forces.

Afghanistan has been ravaged by a series of deadly terrorist attacks in the past two weeks, particularly in Kabul, which killed nearly 150 people and wounded hundreds more. (ANI)
