Dunki is a movie, starring Shah Rukh Khan, based on the donkey route.

It's a common, yet illegal, method of immigration used to get into other countries.

Youth in Gujarat, Punjab, and Haryana travel the donkey route, which is fraught with danger.

The term dunki, which is a dialectal pronunciation of donkey, comes from a Punjabi.

Many lakhs of Indians travel over this perilous border to enter nations like the US, the UK, or Europe.

Many visa firms work in several Indian states and often violate the law.

Young people from Haryana are most interested in traveling to the US, whereas those from Punjab primarily go to Canada.

The unlawful route proves to be expensive both monetarily and in terms of the risks involved.

Reportedly, it can cost as much as Rs 70 lakh and range from Rs 15 to Rs 40 lakh for a donkey ride to the US.
