Can Cleansers Be Used By All? Know Different Types

What Is A Cleanser? A cleanser is a chemical that breaks down water-insoluble impurities on the skin into smaller, more rinse-able water-soluble particles.

Soaps, syndet bars and liquid cleansing lotions are the three main categories of cleansers.

Typically, cleansers consist of water, preservatives, stabilisers, emulsifiers, moisturizing agents, scents, and dyes.

Everyone can use cleansers, however a dermatologist may recommend a particular cleanser based on the type of skin and certain skin conditions.

For instance, soap-based cleansers are more alkaline and may irritate the skin in certain individuals.

Components such as fragrances and preservatives might induce allergic contact dermatitis.

In such individuals, it is advisable to use syndet bars or soap free cleansers, which are paraben free and fragrance free.

A non-comdogenic and non-irritating cleanser is essential for people who have oily skin and are prone to acne.

It is best to stay away from using cleansers that contain alcohol and astringents if you have rosacea.

A cleanser containing ceramides is a good choice for those who have dry skin or xerosis.

Rehydrating the skin while cleansing is best achieved with cleansers that also contain moisturising ingredients.
