Sammakka Saralamma Jatara or Medaram Jathara is a tribal festival celebrated in the state of Telangana



The festival commemorates the fight of a mother and daughter with the reigning rulers against an unjust law



It is dedicated to the worship of the goddess Sammakka and her daughter Saralamma



It is one of the largest tribal festivals in Asia



The biannual festival is held in Medaram village of Tadvai Mandal in Mulugu district of Telangana



The Jathara attracts millions of devotees, including tribal people from various parts of Telangana



The devotees throng in large numbers to offer prayers to the goddesses


This year, the festival falls between February 21 to February 24
