Phases Of The Moon — A Never-Ending Cycle

From the New Moon to the Full Moon and back again, the lunar phases remind us of the dynamic dance between Earth, Moon, and Sun, in a mesmerising cycle of light and shadow.

New Moon

The New Moon occurs when the Moon and Sun align. The Moon's illuminated side faces away from us, leaving it in complete shadow. This marks the beginning of the Moon's cycle in many calendars.

Waxing Crescent

The Waxing Crescent is visible in the early evening. This phase signals the Moon growing in light, or waxing.

First Quarter

The First Quarter Moon is one-fourth of the way through its cycle. Often called a 'Half Moon', it's visible high in the sky in the evening.

Waxing Gibbous

The Waxing Gibbous grows brighter each night. This phase dominates the night sky and lasts until the Full Moon.

Full Moon

The Full Moon rises at sunset and shines all night. This is the peak of the Moon's brightness during its cycle.

Waning Gibbous

After the Full Moon, the light begins to wane. The Waning Gibbous remains visible for much of the night and early morning.
