Animesh is currently employed by the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) refineries division in the national capital.

Pradhan completed his schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya in his home district and graduated in Engineering in Computer Science from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela.

The result has been very fulfilling. I thank my parents for my success. It is like a dream come true. I lost my mother to cancer last month when the interview for the civil services examination was going on and I lost my father in December 2015 while I was studying in Class 11. Their loss is irreparable to me, said Animesh.

Animesh opted for Sociology as his optional subject for UPSC and did not attend any coaching classes for the UPSC CSE exam.

Animesh has always given IAS his first preference, and he hopes to get his home state, Odisha, as a cadre to work in. Pradhan wants to work for the betterment of the people of his state.
