PM Modi Lays Foundation Stone Of Cricket Stadium In Varanasi, Sachin Tendulkar Among Attendees

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of an international cricket stadium in Varanasi on Saturday.

Cricketing legends Ravi Shastri, Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Dilip Vengsarkar were among the guests who attended the ceremony.

The Varanasi Cricket Stadium, when completed, will be the third international cricket stadium in the state of Uttar Pradesh.

PM Modi said that this international stadium will become the star of the Purvanchal region. He also said this stadium in the city of 'Mahadev' will be dedicated to 'Mahadev' himself.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was received by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath earlier. The stadium will be developed in a more than 30-acre area, at a cost of about Rs 450 crores.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah was seen during the foundation stone-laying ceremony at the stadium.

Sachin Tendulkar, who attended the event, offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi. The stadium’s design has been inspired by Lord Shiva.

Actor Suniel Shetty also offered prayers at the temple on the sidelines of the event. The stadium will have a capacity of 30,000 spectators.
