Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh starring Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday, and R Madhavan, released in theatres on April 18.
The film’s digital rights have reportedly been acquired by JioHotstar.
While no official date has been announced, the film is likely to stream from June, following the common two-month window after theatrical release.
The film is based on the book The Case That Shook the Empire by Raghu and Pushpa Palat, detailing Sir C Sankaran Nair’s legal battle against the British Raj.
Akshay Kumar plays Sir C Sankaran Nair, who takes on the British in court after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. R Madhavan plays his legal rival, while Ananya Panday portrays a young lawyer aiding the fight for justice.
The story focuses on the defamation case filed by Michael O’Dwyer, the former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab, against Nair after he exposed British atrocities.
As per Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 3 crore gross on opening day through advance bookings, with over 56,000 tickets sold for around 4,400 shows.
Even without block seat data, Kesari Chapter 2 had already made nearly Rs 2 crore, indicating strong box office potential.
Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi and produced by Karan Johar, the film dramatizes a powerful chapter of India’s independence struggle.
