Mithali Raj, the test and ODI captain of the Indian women's cricket team, took to twitter to announce her retirement.

Up until her retirement, Mithali has scored 10, 868 runs, which is the most runs by any player in women's international cricket.

At the age of 19, Mithali earned the badge of being the youngest player (women's cricket) to score a double century in tests.

Mithali is the most-capped Indian women's cricketer.

ODI has been the most played format by Mithali, in which she retires as the highest run scorer (7805 runs).

Apart from ODIs, Mithali also happens to be India's highest run scorer in women's T20Is.

Mithali is a recipient of the prestigious Arjuna Award (2003) and Padma Shri Award (2015).

In 2021, Mithali received the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award.
