Congress Bank Accounts Restored After Brief Freeze
The Income Tax Department froze the Congress' main bank accounts on flimsy grounds, treasurer Ajay Maken claimed on Friday.
Rajya Sabha MP and Senior Advocate Vivek Tankha appeared for the Congress party in Income Tax Appellate Tribunal on Friday
Tankha appealed to the tribunal to unfreeze the accounts. He stated that after the accounts had been frozen, Congress would not be able to participate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
After the hearing, Tankha stated that the accounts have been restored, however, there will be a lien set by the tribunal
