India evacuates nationals from Sudan on war footing



India launched Operation Kaveri to rescue its citizens stranded in war-torn Sudan on April 24.



Earlier, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said about 500 Indians have reached Port Sudan.



Under the first batch of evacuations, over 278 people were seen leaving the war-torn country aboard INS Sumedha on April 25.



However, Jaishankar later said, the first group of 360 Indians arrived in New Delhi on April 26.



Another batch of 246 Indians arrived in Mumbai on Thursday.



Indian Air Force’s C-17 Globemaster returned to Mumbai airport carrying Indian nationals.



Earlier, the Indian government said it is focusing on the safety of over 3,000 Indian nationals in Sudan.



One of the Indians evacuated earlier said they were struggling for food.
