DK Shivakumar is a seven-time MLA and president of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Commitee

DK Shivakumar is the richest politician in the state despite starting from an agrarian Vokkaliga family

He entered the Congress party as a student leader in 1980s and soon rose to the heights in the party

Previously, he has been elected as a MLA seven times in the period of 1989, 1994, 1999, 2004, 2008, 2013 and 2018

He was one of the prominent persons responsible for sealing the coalition government of INC and JD(S) in 2018

However, he is under the scanner of ED, I-T and CBI for alleged money laundering and I-T evasion

The Congress leader was arrested on charges of money laudering and I-T evasion on Sept 3, 2019

He was later released from Tihar Jail after HC granted him bail in 2019

DK Shivakumar is the confidante of Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi
