Delhi Is Set To Celebrate Cleanest Diwali If Cracker Ban Works

A total ban on firecrackers holds the promise of delivering the best air quality to Delhi on Diwali in eight years.

Delhiites woke up to clear skies and ample sunlight on Diwali morning with a lower AQI.

The reason for the drop in AQI is the sudden rain that lashed the national capital on Friday night.

AQI on Thursday stood at 437 (Severe) and a day after the rainfall, it dropped to 220 (Poor).

Recently, the Delhi govt also fixed the defunct smog tower to tackle the pollution menace.

According to doctors, prolonged exposure to high levels of pollution could cause or exacerbate respiratory problems.

Delhiites this year might be a bit safe as compared to previous years from the said health issues.

Strict restrictions mandated under Centre's air pollution control plan for Delhi-NCR -- GRAP IV, have also been implemented.

Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai has appealed to people to celebrate the festival with grandeur but not burst crackers.
