Spinner Tom Hartley removed Rajat Patidar to reduce India to 33/3 in 8.5 overs.



However, Rohit and Ravindra Jadeja then added 204 runs for the fourth wicket.



Rohit brought up his 11th Test century, becoming the oldest Indian captain to score an international hundred.



The Indian skipper eventually fell to Wood for 131 off 196.



Debutant Sarfaraz Khan then scored a quickfire half-century.



However, the Mumbai batter got run out after a mix-up with Jadeja for 62 off 66.



Jadeja remains unbeaten on 110* at the end of the day's play.



Kuldeep Yadav (1*) will resume India's batting with Jadeja on Day 2.
