Bollywood’s fitness icon Malaika Arora has opened up about the lifestyle habits that help her stay fit at 49—and it all starts with a simple rule: no meals after 7 pm.
“I like eating out of a bowl and it’s a specific size of a bowl and that’s the amount that I will eat,” said Malaika, highlighting how portion control shapes her daily eating, in an interview with 32ND – Lifestyle, Investments & Residences’ YouTube channel.
Malaika practices intermittent fasting every alternate day. Her fasting window? A whopping 17 hours! She says it resets her system and helps her sleep and feel better.
“I swear by not eating after sunset,” she shared, revealing that her final meal of the day is always wrapped up by 7 pm.
Malaika doesn’t eat breakfast. Instead, she breaks her fast with a spoon of ghee and has her first actual meal at 12 noon.
“I eat everything—rice, roti, sabzi, everything,” she said. Malaika doesn’t believe in cheat days or restrictive diets—balance and timing are key.
Unlike her son who weighs his food, Malaika focuses more on consistency and mindfulness rather than calorie-counting.
Turning 50 soon, Malaika acknowledged that health priorities shift as one ages. “After a certain age, you are battling with a whole lot of things,” she said.
“There’s a big difference between dieting and fasting,” she emphasized. Her goal isn’t restriction—it’s wellness.
