World News: PM Modi Offers Prayers at 1,000-Year-Old Prambanan Temple During Indonesia Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi concluded his Indonesia visit with a spiritually significant stop at the historic Prambanan Temple, one of Southeast Asia's most iconic Hindu temple complexes and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During his visit, the Prime Minister performed traditional prayers and highlighted the enduring cultural and civilizational ties between India and Indonesia. Addressing the gathering, PM Modi described the experience as deeply moving, noting that hearing chants of "Shivaya" at the temple touched his heart. He expressed confidence that the planned restoration of the temple complex would attract not only Indian pilgrims but also visitors from across the globe who wish to witness India's cultural legacy reflected beyond its borders. The Prime Minister emphasized that India's heritage can be found in many parts of the world, with Prambanan standing as one of the most significant symbols of shared history in Southeast Asia. The temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and also housing idols of Goddess Durga and Lord Ganesha, has remained a center of devotion for centuries. PM Modi revealed that he and the Indonesian President prayed together for stronger India–Indonesia friendship, the well-being of the people of both nations, and their continued growth and prosperity. He also praised the Indonesian President's commitment to completing the temple's restoration before 2029 and promised to return after the project is completed to celebrate the occasion together. Expressing gratitude for the warm hospitality extended throughout the visit, the Prime Minister thanked the Indonesian leadership on behalf of the people of India. His visit to the Prambanan Temple marked a symbolic conclusion to the bilateral tour, reinforcing shared cultural values, religious heritage, and the growing strategic partnership between India and Indonesia.
