According to reports, the attackers assaulted Sarkar with sharp weapons inside his shop. After the attack, they reportedly left him inside the store and pulled down the shutter, where he later died. The assailants are also said to have looted several लाख (hundreds of thousands) Bangladeshi taka from the shop before fleeing the scene. The killing has heightened concerns over the safety of minority communities during the sensitive pre-election period. Authorities are expected to investigate the murder and assess security arrangements as the country prepares to vote.
