Breaking News: Breaking: Student Leader Nahed Islam Wins, BNP Sweeps Bangladesh Polls

The electoral picture in Bangladesh is now almost fully clear, with results declared for 296 out of 299 seats. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) alliance has secured a commanding majority, winning 213 seats. The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami alliance won 74 seats, eight independents emerged victorious, and one seat went to Islami Andolan Bangladesh. Student movement leader Nahid Islam won his constituency by a margin of around 2,000 votes. However, his party, the NCP, performed poorly and is expected to secure only about two seats. Political observers believe the party’s decision to align with Jamaat may have cost it broader public support. Although no official announcement has been made, Tarique Rahman is expected to take oath as Prime Minister around February 17. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already congratulated him on his victory.
