7.4-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Mindanao, Philippines, Tsunami Warning Issued | ABP News
A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck Mindanao in the Philippines, prompting an urgent tsunami warning and raising concerns about potential aftershocks. The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported the quake occurred at a depth of 62 km (38.5 miles). The Philippine Seismology Agency warned of possible damage across southern Mindanao and urged residents in coastal towns of central and southern Philippines to move immediately to higher ground. Authorities cautioned that aftershocks are likely in the coming hours. This quake follows closely after a 6.9-magnitude tremor hit Cebu province just a week ago, killing at least 74 people, injuring many, and damaging historic structures, including the centuries-old Parish of Saint Peter the Apostle in Bantayan.
