Twisha case: CBI takes over Twisha Sharma case, team reaches Bhopal to begin fresh probe

The CBI has formally taken over the investigation of the Twisha Sharma case in Madhya Pradesh and is expected to reach Bhopal today to begin the probe. The central agency will collect all case-related documents, evidence, CCTV footage, witness statements, and the complete investigation file from the local police. The case will be re-registered by the CBI before a fresh and detailed investigation begins. According to reports, the move comes after the Madhya Pradesh government had already recommended a CBI probe, and the Supreme Court later took suo motu cognizance of the matter. During the hearing, the Supreme Court emphasized that the investigation must remain fair and unbiased, and that no media trial or unnecessary public statements should influence the case. The court also expressed confidence in the CBI’s ability to conduct an impartial investigation. The Supreme Court further directed all parties, including the victim’s family and the accused side, to refrain from public commentary and share their statements only with the investigating agency. With the CBI taking charge, the case has now entered a crucial phase, where a fresh investigation may lead to new findings and developments.
