Tahawwur Rana, Pakistani Origin Mumbai 26/11 Terror Attack Accused, Can Be Extradited To India

Tahawwur Hussain Rana, a Pakistani-origin Canadian businessman wanted by India for his involvement in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, can now be extradited to India, according to a ruling by a U.S. court in California. The court's decision, based on the extradition treaty between the two countries, allows for Rana's transfer to India. The 63-year-old Rana is currently held in a Los Angeles jail and faces charges related to his role in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. He is linked to Pakistani-American Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist David Coleman Headley, a primary conspirator in the attacks. Rana was previously tried in a U.S. district court for supporting a terrorist organization responsible for the devastating attacks in Mumbai. The 2008 attacks resulted in the deaths of 166 people, including six Americans, and involved a more than 60-hour siege by 10 Pakistani terrorists who targeted key locations in Mumbai.
