In Maharashtra, after the results of the assembly elections favored the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, opposition parties have been reluctant to accept the outcome. Political debate over the use of EVMs in India continues, while countries like Bangladesh, Japan, Germany, and the Netherlands have discontinued their use.
In the November 23 Maharashtra Assembly elections, the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance secured a massive victory, winning 230 out of 288 seats and maintaining control of the state. The BJP won 132 seats, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction secured 57, and Ajit Pawar's NCP faction won 41 seats. In contrast, the MVA alliance, including Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and Sharad Pawar’s NCP, won 20, 16, and 10 seats, respectively.
