Religion News: Tight Security at Bhojshala as First Friday After HC Verdict Draws Devotees

Security has been intensified in Madhya Pradesh’s Dhar as the first Friday after the High Court verdict on the historic Bhojshala is being observed with special religious events and heightened administrative monitoring. Hindu devotees gathered at the Bhojshala premises for prayers and rituals following the court’s recent decision regarding worship rights at the site. According to the schedule announced by Hindu organizations, an Akhand Jyoti was lit at 1 PM, followed by special worship and prayers dedicated to Maa Vagdevi between 1 PM and 3 PM. The event also included programs to honor families of those who lost their lives, injured activists, and workers associated with the Bhojshala movement over the years. A large number of devotees were expected to participate throughout the day. The district administration and police deployed nearly 1,500 personnel across Dhar city and sensitive areas to maintain peace and law and order. Surveillance through drones and CCTV cameras has also been arranged, while police patrols continued on major roads and public areas. Authorities conducted a flag march ahead of the event and appealed to citizens not to pay attention to rumors or misleading social media posts. Officials warned that strict action would be taken against those spreading objectionable or inflammatory content online. Meanwhile, the Bhojshala dispute has now reached the Supreme Court after Muslim petitioner Qazi Moinuddinchallenged the Madhya Pradesh High Court order dated May 15. The petition seeks cancellation of the verdict that recognized the site as an ancient temple of Maa Saraswati and allowed Hindu worship rights. Senior advocate Salman Khurshid is expected to represent the petitioner before the Supreme Court.
