POLITICAL UPDATE: Karnataka Leadership Talks Intensify as Siddaramaiah Meets Rahul Gandhi

Political activity has intensified in Karnataka as senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah met Rahul Gandhi in Delhi to discuss the formation of the new state government and key leadership decisions. The high-level meeting took place at 10 Janpath amid growing speculation over cabinet formation, ministerial appointments, and the finalization of the swearing-in ceremony date. Deputy Chief Minister hopeful DK Shivakumar is also expected to hold separate discussions with Rahul Gandhi as the Congress leadership works to finalize the power-sharing formula in Karnataka. Sources indicate that multiple dates suggested through astrological consultations are being reviewed, and the final swearing-in schedule will depend on the availability of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The discussions are also focused on deciding the composition of the new cabinet, allocation of major portfolios, and possible deputy chief minister appointments. Congress observers believe the leadership is trying to strike a balance between governance, regional representation, and internal party dynamics ahead of the official government formation. The meeting has gained additional political significance because it marks Siddaramaiah’s first major interaction with Rahul Gandhi after stepping down from the chief ministerial position. Party insiders suggest that Rahul Gandhi wants Siddaramaiah to play a larger organizational role at the national level, similar to senior leaders who transitioned from administrative positions to strengthen party structures. Congress leaders, including Karnataka in-charge Randeep Surjewala, are also part of the ongoing consultations. The leadership is expected to announce key decisions soon as the party attempts to present a united and stable leadership structure in Karnataka ahead of the formal oath-taking ceremony.
