Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the landslide-affected regions of Wayanad in Kerala on August 10. During his visit, the Prime Minister will conduct an aerial survey of the devastation caused by the landslide, which has tragically claimed the lives of over 300 people. The landslide occurred on July 30, 2024, in Wayanad district due to heavy rainfall. So far, 420 deaths have been confirmed, with 150 people still reported missing. Additionally, at least 273 individuals have sustained injuries. A special team comprising army personnel, SOG officers, and forest officials is currently conducting a search operation in the forested area of Sujipara in Sunrise Valley. This visit by the Prime Minister underscores the severity of the disaster and the ongoing efforts to provide relief and assistance to those affected.
