This is PM Modi's first foreign trip after his record-breaking win in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. India has been invited as an outreach country by Meloni in her capacity as the G7 President.
This is the 50th G7 summit of top economies of the world and is being held in the luxury resort of Borgo Egnazia in Italy's Fasano city in the Apulia region from June 13 to 15. On the agenda of the summit will be the wars raging in Ukraine and Gaza. The heads of core G7 countries — Joe Biden (USA), Emmanuel Macron (France), Olaf Scholz (Germany), Fumio Kishida (Japan), Rishi Sunak (United Kingdom), Justin Trudeau (Canada), and host Giorgia Meloni — will deliberate on various global matters at the summit.
