New Delhi Railway Station Stampede: Porter Reveals Shocking Eyewitness Account of Chaos
A porter at New Delhi Railway Station has revealed critical details about the stampede that claimed 18 lives on February 15. According to his account, the sudden surge in crowd movement on platforms 14 and 15 was triggered by train delays and a large influx of passengers traveling to Prayagraj for the Mahakumbh. The sale of thousands of general tickets led to extreme congestion, and a non-functional escalator near platform 16 worsened the situation.Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has ordered a high-level probe, while special trains have been introduced to manage the crowd. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Delhi LG V.K. Saxena expressed condolences and assured relief measures. However, growing concerns over mismanagement and lack of crowd control measures have put railway authorities under scrutiny.
