In Godhra town, Gujarat, a significant scandal has emerged involving allegations of facilitating cheating in the NEET-UG medical examination. The principal and a teacher from Jay Jalaram School, along with three others, have been arrested. They are accused of aiding 27 candidates in cheating on the exam in exchange for Rs 10 lakh each. Key individuals taken into custody include Parshottam Sharma, the school's principal, and Tushar Bhatt, a teacher at the same institution who also served as deputy centre superintendent for the NEET exam in Godhra. Bhatt was found in possession of Rs 7 lakh in cash. Others involved are Arif Vohra, identified as a middleman, Parsuram Roy, an education consultant from Vadodara, and his associate Vibhor Anand. The fraudulent scheme came to light following a tip-off received by the district collector. Jay Jalaram School, where the accused individuals worked, was designated as a NEET exam centre. Legal action has been initiated based on a complaint filed by the district education officer at the Godhra taluka police station. Authorities have seized significant evidence, including cash, indicating the seriousness of the alleged misconduct. This incident underscores the challenges in upholding the integrity of critical examinations like NEET-UG and highlights the need for rigorous oversight to prevent such fraudulent activities.
