Mumbai teacher burns child’s hand; newborn dies in UP hospital due to gross negligence

In a deeply disturbing incident from Mumbai’s Kurar Village area, a tuition teacher allegedly burned a young student’s palm with a lit candle as punishment for poor handwriting. The teacher, identified as Rashtri Rathour, reportedly teaches students at her residence. The fourth-grade student suffered severe burns, and images of his injured hand—clearly showing a large blister—have sparked outrage on social media. Locals and child rights activists are demanding strict legal action against the teacher for her brutal behavior.Meanwhile, in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur district, alleged medical negligence at the Mohammadabad Community Health Center led to the tragic death of a newborn. According to the grieving family, the delivery was conducted without a doctor present—handled instead by an untrained nurse and a midwife. The nurse reportedly did not know the correct procedure to cut the umbilical cord, leading to complications that ultimately claimed the baby’s life. The hospital staff allegedly failed to provide post-delivery care or proper emergency response. Furious relatives staged a protest inside the hospital premises, demanding accountability and action against those responsible. The district's Chief Medical Officer visited the site and assured the family of a full investigation and appropriate disciplinary measures.
