Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation, highlighting India's inspiring participation in International Yoga Day and several key developments across the country. PM Modi praised the diverse and unified celebrations of Yoga Day—from Indian Navy ships showcasing yoga to 3,000 specially-abled participants in Telangana joining a mass yoga camp. In Delhi, people connected yoga with the “Clean Yamuna” initiative by practicing on its banks, while iconic locations like the Chenab Railway Bridge in Jammu & Kashmir and Himalayan peaks echoed the spirit of yoga. Globally, major cities like New York, London, Tokyo, and Paris joined in under this year’s theme: “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” PM Modi also celebrated the spiritual essence of religious pilgrimages like the upcoming Amarnath Yatra and the reopening of the Kailash Mansarovar route. He emphasized their role not just in devotion but in community service—through bhandaras, langars, and hospitality efforts by volunteers. In a significant health achievement, India has been declared trachoma-free by the World Health Organization—an eye disease once common in many regions. The PM credited health workers and initiatives like Swachh Bharat and Jal Jeevan Mission for this milestone. He further cited an ILO report stating that over 64% of India’s population now receives social protection benefits, showcasing progress in inclusive welfare. Modi also recalled the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, honoring those who resisted it and highlighting the need to protect democracy.
