Kullu Tunnel Flooded After Landslide, Vehicles Submerged And Commuters Flee For Safety
In Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district, chaos erupted when a sudden landslide sent debris rushing into the Rash Nala four-lane tunnel, blocking its passage and causing severe flooding inside. Continuous rainfall had already saturated the area, and the incoming debris trapped several vehicles within the tunnel. As rainwater quickly filled the blocked space, the situation turned critical, forcing drivers and passengers to abandon their cars and flee to safety. Shocking visuals show vehicles partially or fully submerged, some seen drifting in the rising water. The blockage not only halted traffic on a key route but also created dangerous conditions for rescue operations. Locals reported that the deluge and debris came with little warning, leaving commuters with only moments to react. Authorities are now working to clear the tunnel and recover stranded vehicles, but persistent rain continues to hamper efforts. This incident highlights the vulnerability of mountain infrastructure during extreme weather, as well as the urgent need for efficient drainage and landslide mitigation measures in such high-risk areas.
