JPSC-JSSC Protest: Students to Meet Government With Legal Experts

The student movement in Jharkhand against alleged irregularities in JPSC and JSSC examinations has entered its 24th day, with today’s government-student meeting being seen as crucial. Talks are scheduled for 2 PM at the State Guest House in Ranchi, following the previous meeting on August 9 that ended without a resolution as students remained firm on their demands. The government has invited student representatives to attend the meeting along with their legal experts. Several ministers who participated in the previous rounds of discussions are expected to represent the government again. The talks are taking place ahead of the students’ deadline of August 18. They have warned that if their demands are not accepted, they will surround the Chief Minister’s residence on August 20. Student representatives have welcomed the dialogue but remain skeptical about the government’s intentions and whether the talks will produce a concrete solution. Meanwhile, the issue has triggered a political blame game, with opposition leaders criticizing the government’s handling of the agitation. The government, however, has expressed hope that the meeting will be constructive and help resolve the students’ concerns while improving the examination system.
