Jammu & Kashmir Alert: Massive Fire Erupts on Hills Near Salal Dam in Reasi

Rising temperatures continue to affect several parts of India, including the Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir. Panic spread in the area when a massive fire broke out on the hills near the Salal Dam along the Chenab River. The blaze quickly intensified and engulfed a large portion of the hillside, burning numerous trees and causing significant damage to the surrounding forest cover. As the fire continued to spread, teams from the Fire Brigade and the Forest Department launched a joint operation to control the situation. After hours of continuous efforts, the authorities successfully brought the fire under control. However, officials remain on high alert due to the risk of fresh flare-ups. The incident comes at a time when several regions across the country are witnessing an increase in forest fire cases, largely attributed to extreme heat and dry weather conditions. Authorities are closely monitoring vulnerable areas to prevent similar incidents and protect forest resources.
