Interstate Flashpoint: Delhi Police Leaves Shimla With AI Summit Accused After Night-Long Standoff
In a significant development from Himachal Pradesh, the Delhi Police team has departed with three accused linked to the AI Summit protest after hours of high-voltage drama in Shimla. The accused, reportedly associated with the Youth Congress and involved in a shirtless protest during the summit, were granted transit remand before being taken toward Delhi. The situation escalated late at night when officials of Delhi Police and Himachal Pradesh Police engaged in a heated exchange over procedural compliance and documentation. Himachal authorities had objected to the alleged lack of a seizure memo related to materials collected from a resort where the accused were staying. After the required documents, including the seizure memo, were furnished and verified, the Shimla Police cleared the convoy at the Shoghi border. All vehicles earlier halted during the confrontation were released, allowing the Delhi Police team to proceed. The standoff, which reportedly stretched through the night and involved legal proceedings in a local court, has now concluded with the accused en route to the national capital. The episode has sparked debate over inter-state coordination and standard operating procedures during arrest and transit operations.
