The Union Budget 2025, the second under the Modi government 3.0, is being presented today by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at 11 AM in the Lok Sabha. With the focus on boosting rural India, expectations are high for announcements on agriculture, rural infrastructure, and welfare measures. Prime Minister Narendra Modi hinted at initiatives benefiting the poor, middle class, and women, fueling hope among these groups. The middle class, in particular, anticipates tax relief, with speculations that income tax slabs could be revised and exemptions under Section 80C increased. There are also demands for higher deductions on home loan interest. In the lead-up to the Delhi elections, these provisions are seen as politically significant. Additionally, the economic survey projects GDP growth between 6.3% to 6.8% for FY 2025-26. Key announcements may include the launch of 100 'Amrit Bharat' stations and the introduction of over 10 Vande Bharat trains. The EPS pension could also rise to ₹5,000.
