The Supreme Court will hear today (21 May 2024) the petition filed by jailed former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren against his arrest. Hemant Soren, who is in jail in the land scam case in Ranchi, has also demanded interim bail for election campaign. This hearing will be conducted by a vacation bench of Justice Dipankar Dutta. On the other hand, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has opposed Hemant Soren's application seeking interim bail. ED told the Supreme Court on Monday (20 May 2024) that Hemant Soren is trying to influence the investigation of the money laundering case against him by misusing the state machinery.
