Heavy Rains Cause Devastating Flooding In Rajasthan And Madhya Pradesh, Roads And Homes Submerged

Torrential rains have caused massive flooding across parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, submerging towns, breaking road links, and leaving thousands stranded. In Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur, a cloudburst-like situation resulted in the collapse of a culvert on NH-552 near Khandar, cutting off the vital route between Sawai Madhopur and Sheopur. Rapid water flow inundated low-lying areas, prompting emergency inspections by district officials.The rainfall lasted over five hours, creating scenes of destruction not witnessed in the past 50 years. Meanwhile, in Madhya Pradesh’s Raisen district, over 200 mm of rain fell in 24 hours, forcing authorities to open all eight gates of the Barna Dam, releasing 50,000 cusecs of water. As a result, several villages near Bareli are now facing flood-like conditions.In Guna’s New City area, three-story buildings are submerged up to their first floors, with streets turning into rivers. Entire colonies are underwater, vehicles submerged, and residents stranded. Over a dozen villages have lost road connectivity due to rising water over small bridges and culverts.Rescue operations involving the army and SDRF are underway, and officials are urging people to avoid waterlogged areas for their safety.
