Delhi News: Jantar Mantar Assault Row Reignites as Sanjay Kumar’s Daughter Seeks Rahul Gandhi’s Help
The Jantar Mantar assault controversy has resurfaced after Nishu, daughter of Sanjay Kumar, appealed to Rahul Gandhi through a social media post, seeking help in getting those allegedly involved in the July 23 incident identified and arrested. Sanjay Kumar had suffered a head injury during the clash, and the family is now questioning the sections applied in the FIR. The controversy intensified after allegations were raised about statements reportedly made by accused Swatantra Kumar in a podcast, including claims that political intervention influenced the case. CJP leaders and supporters subsequently reached Parliament Street Police Station, demanding stronger legal action and questioning why more serious charges were not included in the FIR. Leaders including Saurabh Das and Ashutosh addressed the media outside the police station before a proposed delegation was expected to meet police officials. Security was tightened around the police station, with barricades and additional police and paramilitary personnel deployed as supporters gathered at the spot. Delhi Police has maintained that an FIR was registered and that Swatantra Kumar was issued a notice for questioning. Police also said the case was registered under bailable sections based on the medical assessment available at the time and that the investigation remains underway, with a chargesheet expected to follow. The latest developments have brought the Jantar Mantar incident back into focus, with the victim’s family and protesters demanding stronger action while questions continue over the investigation, the FIR sections and the allegations of political influence.
