Delhi CNG Price Hike: IGL Raises Rates to ₹86.98 Per Kg, Commuters Feel the Pinch

CNG prices have increased again across Delhi-NCR, adding to the financial pressure on commuters, auto drivers and other vehicle owners who depend heavily on the cleaner fuel. Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) has raised the CNG price in Delhi by ₹3.89 per kg, taking the rate from ₹83.09 to ₹86.98 per kg. The latest hike comes amid continued turmoil in West Asia and a sharp rise in international LNG prices. Disruptions affecting LNG supplies through the Strait of Hormuz have added pressure to global gas markets, with tighter supplies pushing prices higher. The impact is now being felt in the domestic market as well. The latest increase follows several price revisions in recent months. CNG prices have moved upward through a series of hikes, including increases reported on May 16, May 19, May 23, May 26 and August 29. The repeated revisions have become a growing concern for people who rely on CNG-powered vehicles for their daily income and transportation. Auto and commercial vehicle drivers say rising CNG prices are directly affecting their earnings and household budgets. Many drivers say they are struggling to absorb the additional fuel cost while maintaining affordable fares for passengers. For regular commuters, the latest hike could mean higher transportation expenses, while commercial drivers may face increased operating costs. With international energy markets remaining uncertain, questions are being raised over whether consumers could face further pressure if gas prices remain elevated.
