CBSE Controversy: Government Removes Top Officials Amid OSM Row

The Indian government has taken major action amid controversy surrounding the CBSE Class 12 On-Screen Marking (OSM) system. CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh and Secretary Himanshu Gupta have been transferred from their positions following concerns over the evaluation process. IAS officer Lokhande Prashant Sitaram has been appointed as the new CBSE Chairman, while Varun Bhardwaj will serve as the new Secretary. The government has also constituted an inquiry committee headed by S. Radha Chauhan to examine the procurement process and implementation of the OSM system. The panel is expected to submit its report within a month. The issue has triggered political reactions, with Rahul Gandhi criticizing the transfers and demanding an independent judicial probe and the removal of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Meanwhile, CBSE reported that its re-evaluation portal is functioning smoothly, with thousands of students using the service. Officials also warned of possible cyberattacks after detecting unusually high traffic and unauthorized access attempts on the portal.
