A tragic incident occurred during the Shri Lairai Devi Jatra in Goa's Shirgaon, where a stampede resulted in the death of six devotees. The stampede took place early in the morning, between 4:00 AM and 5:00 AM, as the crowd surged. Around 50 people were admitted to various hospitals, with some in critical condition. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant visited three hospitals, including Goa Medical College, Ad Hospital, and the Community Health Center, to ensure proper treatment was being provided to the injured. The CM clarified that the stampede occurred due to overcrowding and panic, not an electrical shock, as rumors had suggested. Sawant expressed condolences for the victims and assured the public that all necessary arrangements for their treatment were in place. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reached out to Sawant, offering further assistance. The victims were all from Goa, and despite large crowds from neighboring states like Maharashtra and Karnataka, the event's management faced challenges.
