Breaking: Iran Faces Intensifying Unrest as Protests Enter 17th Day, Execution of Young Protester Looms

Iran is witnessing a rapidly escalating crisis as nationwide anti-government protests entered their 17th consecutive day, with growing international concern over alleged human rights violations and the imminent execution of a young protester. According to official Iranian claims, over 2,500 people have died during the unrest, while non-government sources estimate the death toll could be as high as 12,000. The protests, directed against Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the ruling establishment, have spread across multiple cities and are being described by analysts as more than routine demonstrations—some calling them the early stages of a revolution. The situation has further intensified with reports that 26-year-old Irfan Sultani, arrested last week for participating in protests, is set to be executed without a formal trial. Amid the turmoil, former US President Donald Trump has publicly expressed support for Iranian protesters, raising speculation about possible American action. In response, Iran’s defence leadership has issued stern warnings, stating the country’s armed forces are fully prepared to retaliate against any foreign military intervention. Experts suggest the Iranian government is using harsh measures, including executions, to deter dissent. However, with Iran facing severe economic strain, high inflation, and international sanctions, observers warn that such actions may further fuel public anger rather than suppress it.
