West Bengal Governor C.V. Ananda Bose visited the violence-hit Murshidabad region to meet families affected by recent clashes linked to protests against the Waqf Act. Women and children, the most impacted, shared emotional accounts of losing homes, property, and loved ones. Many have been forced to flee and are now living in relief camps in Malda, struggling for basic necessities. Residents showed the Governor posters highlighting their grievances — from lack of safety to forced migration. The National Commission for Women (NCW) also visited the area earlier and assured full support, promising to present the victims’ stories to the central government. Over 270 people have been arrested so far, and the situation remains tense though stable under heavy security. Victims urged authorities to ensure long-term protection and justice. Governor Bose promised to submit a detailed report to the Centre and assured all possible help to those affected. Meanwhile, political tensions continue to rise over the issue.
